Susi Mai

Kitesurfer and entrepreneur

“The ocean is our life support system and the only way we will save it from being destroyed is by building community and working together as one human species.’

The first time Susi Mai tried kitesurfing she didn’t think it was for her. She gave it another go and ended up a multi-awarding winning international kitesurfing champion. Originally from Germany’s landlocked Munich, Susi’s windsurfing parents located to Cabarete in the Dominican Republic when she was six. It is from this famous kitesurfing paradise that Susi began her own non-profit Ultramarine, which brings entrepreneurs and kitesurfers together to have fun and protect the oceans. She has taught Elon Musk how to catch waves, runs events on Richard Branson’s Necker Island, published her own autobiography in 2018 and even takes the stage at Blockchain conferences, speaking about sustainable business. Despite these achievements Susi’s main focus remains the ocean and protecting the increasingly fragile world of the sea
